• Start early
Planning a wedding can feel very overwhelming at times. It’s best to start sorting things on time. Book your venue, select your vendors, pick your train, dress, decide on menu, create a budget so you can start saving funds etc. Trust me this will help you enjoy the planning process, as things won’t choke you.
• Invest in a Wedding Planner.
Especially if you are a busy person, or just feel a little lost, a professional can be invaluable in putting together your ideal day and can often save you money.
• Do you – This is a once-in-a-lifetime event. Make sure you do things that will make you happy. Wear the dress you have always dreamt of, hire people that can implement all the things you have saved up for years, go for that color, that theme, eat well if you can, dance well if you have the legs.
• Have a realistic and workable budget and stick to it. Remember wedding is a day, marriage is forever. You don’t need to break the bank.
• Your photographer is so important! Not sure how to emphasise this. At the end of the whole ceremony, his/her work is what keeps all the memory.
• Don’t be shy to accept support – if people offer to take some burdens off you, please accept. No matter how little or large. It shows they care and want the best for you.
• Entertainment – please take this seriously, I mean seriously. Your DJ and/or Band, MC etc are the life of the party. They will add so much flavour to your event.
• Consider your guests – they are your guests! They left everything to celebrate you. It will be nice for you to make them feel welcome. Pay attention to what you’d serve them, engage them ánd let them have a good time, in general.
• Don’t sweat the small stuff. I know it’s hard but try not to worry about anyone or anything on your day. It goes by so fast, so wasting any of your energy or moments on being upset is not worth it. Let the day be about you and your spouse. You should hire people to do the heavy lifting. Relax! It’s your day. Have fun, smile more.
